Shannon, the Dividend-Investing-Lighthouse LLC owner, started investing for retirement in 1988 like most retail investors by using a financial services advisor and investing in mutual funds.
Having experienced the investing bubble that popped in 2000 he learned that the only people actually making money and meeting their retirement goals were the people in the financial services sector. This belief was again reinforced with the real estate bubble that popped in 2009.In addition to controlling his own financial health he is now committed to helping other small investors by sharing his own experiences, knowledge, and the strategies that have worked for him. He describes himself as a value dividend investor. However, unlike most dividend investors he is not a buy-and-hold investor because he actively manages risk and really does understand what “past performance is not necessarily indicative of future results” means…and he believes it.
